Return conversation with Samuel Corwin, on these crazy days, when everyone around you is insane, life in Portland, Oregon, Trump times in the US, PizzaGate & Pepe, the ripples of Pizzagate, deniers at Rigorous Intuition, the ideological shell game, 4chan portrayed in the media, the problem of allies with distinct goals, bringing light to the darkness, gauging people’s depth by their responses to truth, the danger of movements, infiltrants within Occupy and Standing Rock, internal co-opting, the desire to implement change, negative identity & a giant seesaw, surrendering to the Tao, voluntary immersion in darkness, being garbagemen, thrift store displacement activities, dumpster diving & 4chan, mental & physical repulsion, the neoliberal immune system & the Trump disorder, Rec Ice’s naiveté, Trump as quintessential American, perception management theater, legitimizing the margins, the bread & butter of hope, Kek & mass chaos magic, giving leaders mystical power, Miguel Serrano & the deification of fascism, how gods are created, smashing the golden calf, getting fat on people’s attention, the Hollywood star system, stars as popular shadows, celebrity delusions, joining the game, Team Elite, prepping people for the alien invasion, shifting genres & full liminality, Peter Levenda & John Podesta, Sinister Forces, a life-vest for conspiracy culture, a Trojan horse book, false maps, finding a hidden book in the library of misinformation, an alternate method for finding the truth, reading dubious, Hakim Bey’s pederasty,  trying to separate the artist from the art.

  1. Yeah i guess its also possible that the list of fake news sites will make them far more attractive to a huge chunk of the population . Are you really on the proscribed list ??
Visup posted a great read today about the Trump administration being “the junta of JSOC”. Jsoc being an order of occult assassins whose thirst for blood seems to have escaped all reasonable bounds , like a farm dog that started by killing the odd sheep before becoming a mass murderer who had to be put down. This tendency of the killing instinct is admirably depicted in the aussie horror film “Snowtown” where an attempt to clean up an impoverished working class neighbourhood of paedophiles morphed into a full scale killing frenzy .
This may well be the order of the ID made manifest , a charming institution to be running the “free” world .

    – Atomic Weapons as propaganda

White people pillars they don’t like being looked at too closely

  3. Jasun, great conversation. Your work always does me good. Either solidifying a position within me or liquefying. Liquidating? Either way, ya. thanks
i am not in Portland, but about 120 miles south. Happy to hear so many of my fellow Oregonians have good taste in brain foods.
By the way, they also voted to not fund public libraries anymore…and so it goes

  4. Actually, there are no new thoughts. All thoughts that anyone ever thinks are merely recycled. Why? Because there are only 26 letters in the English alphabet, and a corresponding finite amount of ciphers in any other human language be they ideograms or hieroglyphics. (So the monkeys with typewriters are hard at work but they won’t come up with anything new; but you gotta love their persistance!) With that out of the way…dumpter- (Trumpster-) diving in my garbage bedroom of discarded books has revealed the following:

“Magic enables clever men to dominate others, become kings, set up the first states, become immortalized as gods after death. (From Sir James Frazer’s–he of the Golden Bough- -_The Divine King_)l.”

As for the masses, symbols, and charisma…that was all explained a century ago by the German sociologist Max Weber, referenced by a guest of this podcast who upbraided Jasun for doing a disservice to his listeners by trying to truck in difficult concepts like “liminalism.” That guest has since written a rather technical monograph on the troglodytes of Arizona (and he doesn’t include the state’s citizens as subject matter.).

Another guest of Jasun’s, John Michael Greer, who admired Jasun’s use of the word “mollycoddle,” (forgive my Asperger’s photographic memory) said in a recent blogpost that he “called it right,” referring to Trump’s victory. What Greer posted a half-year ago was an astute analysis, based on the working class town he calls home, that stated that the working class of America, seeing their wages eroded,, their lifestyles mocked by the bi-coastal elites, had embraced Trump as one of them, what with their gauche haircuts being a latching point of identification with him, he of the cheetoh-complexioned hair and skin. Remember that the color orange was ubiquitous throughout the Godfather series of movies.

Anyway, in spite of being limited to the English language, this conversation managed to say a number of new, very funny, things. Loved it!

  5. Great podcast. A few thoughts that came up for me while listening:

Good bacteria – probiotics – how we need bacteria in us/we are mostly bacteria/bacteria is us: Yes! And so much research now on the connection between the microbiome and mental health too – balance of “good” versus “bad” bacteria in the gut and how it pertains to mental health issues, interestingly including autism. Once met a man on an airplane (felt like a bit of a Fight Club moment tbh) who sold camel’s milk to parents of autistic children as it is as close to human breast milk as you can get (apparently) and so has a gut/microbiome healing quality.

Anarchistic tendencies of 4chan – desire to fuck things up and see what happens versus the desire for social justice: Made me think of the TV show Jackass which was also anarchistic, apolitical, and ideologically a grab-bag of stuff that could be made fun of, but their anarchy was also about self-harm and the desire to self-harm (and harm others, sometimes) in order to “feel” something.

Celebrities/stars and attention: One thing that came up post Trump’s election was that he had so very very few celebrity endorsements. Clinton wheeled out Katy Perry (I always have a queasy feeling about her allegiances), Lady Gaga (same), and, well, literally 10s of celebrities to endorse her. Celebrity power did not work. They did not persuade. In fact, it should have been obvious to anyone once Lady Gaga appeared in a pseudo-nazi uniform that this was a failing strategy. But, then, Trump IS a celebrity off TV, so….

    • “4chan – desire to fuck things up and see what happens versus the desire for social justice” seems to relate to the other question, about bacteria; social justice = a healthy system, fuck things up = bacteria. we only think there’s a polarity there?

their anarchy was also about self-harm and the desire to self-harm (and harm others, sometimes) in order to “feel” something.

echoes your ref to Fight Club, guy on plane selling camel’s milk to autists (known for stimming) for it’s bacterial healing qualities.

Trump even invoked the ire of the celebs, when an aging Raging Bull threatened to punch him out. Maybe coz he beat them at their game?
