  1. Great conversation. There is a book you may be familiar with – Exquisite Corpse: Surrealism and the Black Dahlia Murder by Mark Nelson and Sarah Hudson Bayliss that details connections between George Hodel, the French surrealists and the Black Dahlia murder.

If you know any good reading material connecting postmodernist academic philosophers to occultism or satanism I’d be very interested.

  2. Gershom Scholem: “Major trends in Jewish mysticism”, etc.
He belongs to the same milieu as the Frankfurt School, The Institute of Social Research.
Friend of Walter Benjamin. Published two books on the subject.
W.B. In Paris frequented George Bataille and his College of Sociology.
To understand the the gnostic, occult, antinomian faction of Jewish tradition,
A research on Sabbatianism and Frankism is necessary.

  4. The most comprehensive and best researched book I read so far
on the Frankfurt School, is Prof. Kevin MacDonald’s – Culture of Critique:
An evolutionary analysis of Jewish involvement in the twentieth century
    intellectual and Political movements .
Unfortunately he is being slandered as antisemitic and white supremacist,
Which is a completely unfounded and unjust accusation.
I am of Jewish descent (on both sides ), and in my opinion prof. MacDonald’s work
Is objective, accurate and definitely very valuable.
Let’s not be intimidated by unjustified and mendacious accusations

  5. WB, stoned? Perhaps. I know he drank quantities of coffee to get out of military service in WWI. But cannabis? Well, I hope it was sattiva and not indica. Well, cannabis-consumption is another victim of the politics of experience. Why should I listen to anyone? Oh, do they have wisdom to impart? (ha!)

  6. One interesting lead I can’t seem to follow up on is Georges Bataille’s secret society Acephale. I’ve read in a couple places that members of the secret society discussed carrying out a human sacrifice and it’s unknown whether or not this ever occurred. Of course any material out there related to Bataille is very pro-Bataille and can’t find anyone that’s examined the secret society and human sacrifice thing from a more sober point of view.

  7. Atlas press recently published a thorough account of Acephale under the title The Sacred Conspiracy. It contains interviews with members of the society and close analyses of all available material about it. It’s an amazing book. It should have what your looking for.
