The Liminalist # 233: Reasons to be Cheerful in the End-Times

Rare solo flight with Jasun for The Liminalist, on corona panic, thrift store politics, and the unbearable lightness of being human.

Part One: Imagining the Audience (0 – 24 mins)

On being anal, keeping up the podcast, a hub for spreading the corona virus, the smartification of humanity, a prison for God, the human heart, the heaviest object, optimism against the odds, an unusual star, how to podcast alone, a thread in the labyrinth, a future audience, the effects of what we do, what we eat, what makes it to eternity, altercation with a customer, a Clint Eastwood fan, when Lee Marvin sang.

Part Two: All of Heaven’s Horses (24 – 47 mins)

Second altercation with customer, the ripple-down effects of the virus, combatting the virus locally, why I talk about my wife, scapegoating corona victims, the pressure of uncertainty, liminal times, mimetic violence, the man with four jackets, dealing responsibly without panicking, the dark & the light, a part of contaminated humanity, evidence for the goodness, when Icarus crashed, when the cells light up, overthrowing the fascia system.

Part Three: Landing in Eternity (47 mins – end)

A small pocket of humanity, how the audience creates the output, the spirit that’s undivided, the crossroads of the crucifixion, the miracle of surrender, a fractured lens, beauty of the bees, a unique capacity not to be ourselves, seeing the beauty of humans, the island in Finland, when passion proliferates, testifying to the positive, the solution that isn’t a formula, how God moves, a calm system, a loved other, life the story, waiting for the miracle, riding the radio wave.

Songs: “Pirates” by Entertainment for the Braindead; “Vaporcito,” by Bigott; “Choir” by Malcolm Middleton;  “Changes” by Short Hand.

  1. This podcast is an example of your “all in” psychological washing machine approach, so radically switching spin cycles that only an enduring observer becomes aware of what does not change in the eye of the stormy weather.

The tension of the rapid fire chain of modern Zen koan monologue can only be relieved by stepping forward to engage with you. The best environment for that is the relatively gentle, well-distributed heat for making popcorn of your online group pow wows and fireside chats, in contrast to your comments section which is open-ended and thus as variable as a day out in your thrift store of Hope.

Your podcast seems a mixture of your well-practiced reverie spiel, Lawnspeak’s artistic abstraction, a distant second cousin of my own rare pithy aphorisms and body talk, and a twist of Dominic May-the-Force-Be-With-You’s sentient electromagnetic bio-field research.

Admittedly, I skipped to the end because there will be more of your prodigious output soon.

For anyone who can’t wait for Jasun’s explosive money shot, fast forward to satisfaction: 1:01:09.

    • Yes. I heard and felt something land inside, your voice, coming from your connection to the real, led me into a being released experience, for a beautiful moment that I cannot describe in words. I thought I would try, to give something in the box here that becomes a part of this for the record.

  2. Jasun, I mentioned to your wife the other day how healthy you look. She said she’d pass that on. I suspect now that it is because of the lack of junk food and addition of healthier stuff. Good on you.
The C Virus. I think that those who pull the strings behind the curtain took advantage of it to determine whether or not the years of programming would have the effect they are hoping for. Well bravo. It was successful. Now, they all are having a party somewhere eating flesh and drinking their potions which appear to give them a longer life than average. One day they will get their just desserts.
BTW if anyone mentions it the Joshua Project is remaining open and meals served. There will also be a church service tomorrow though we may not be hugging on another.
I agree, it is an exciting time to be alive, in North America anyway. I hear that in Italy, they will not treat anyone over 65. Another reason to be glad I live in Canada.
Free will. Does it exist? How can we have free will if God is sovereign? I questioned this many times over the years. Found an excellent explanation to this question a few weeks ago. R.C Sproul, a philosopher and apologist, Professor and lecturer has many lectures on line addressing this topic and many others. Over the past few months, while being cooped up due to ankle and foot injuries afforded me the luxury of enough time to watch a few hundred of his lectures. He was a Calvinist, so there is another wrench in the works, so to speak.
I enjoyed your pod cast this a.m. after the weather induced mayhem of last night.
    Cheers

  3. There is nothing new under the sun. Predators cull the old, sick, weak from the herd. If one needs to rationalize, it’s for the young. Angst is directly proportional to our inability/ability to accept our animal beings.

How about Peppys’ diary covid-19 podcast ?

  4. Strangely calming and comforting. “Not to flinch in the presence of another.” As good a goal as any I’ve heard.

    Much appreciated.

  8. Happily for us you posted this — now your thoughts & musings on this attempt at global martial law (the virus) will ripple into eternity. It’s not a fix your podcasts give me, it’s reassurance that I’m not alone in this thoroughly mad world, they’re a temporary shelter from the storm.

  9. Wife, simply put is woman.
There is nothing wrong/offensive in identifying this woman as such.
It would likely be worse if you didn’t respect her in such a manner.

Thanks for all you do Jasun.
