  1. Now that you’ve mentioned my name re: blue beings on Arcturus, and implied I was entangled in a delusional belief system re: out-of-body travel, ETs, science fiction or whatever — can I just set the record straight? My encounter with these blue beings (who I think were also horse-shaped although they didn’t have physical bodies, or rather they seemed to be made of liquid energy) happened ONCE during a group meditation and at the time I thought they mentioned they were Arcturians. I only brought it up to let you know you’re not the only one who has seen blue beings… they might be completely illusory but they seemed intelligent and helpful. I did once read a channeled book called WE, ARCTURIANS that I found interesting although I no longer remember much about it.

I disagree with Jasun in that blanket statement that occultism is a thing one uses to force things in the psyche back down .. The four main branches i use to describe it, invocatory , evocatory , astrological and natural magic are most definitely ways to apply metaphor to give life and expressions to things that may be repressed in the psyche in order to become whole , or ” land the body in the psyche “, ” unite the outer with the inner “, ” create heaven on earth ” . What have you . Of course there are people who try to use it to make themselves powerful , understandably it attracts people who have r ceived the necessary wounding to make them want to investigate such things .

Except I didn’t make that blanket statement. Not that I disagree with it, but it’s not a direct quote and as I recall what I said was part of a larger block of insight which I was having at the time of speaking. The main point was about how we attach symbolic meanings to movements of the psyche and then become attached to, and trapped by, those symbols. That is occultism in a nutshell, IMO: the more it seems to work, the more of a trap it becomes.

    • You’ve done your home work, Kutamun. Thanks for sharing.

A funny serendipity about our friend, Pan. While in line at the DMV recently to get a new license plate I was texting my sister (who was there at the desert ritual) about plans to go to the desert again. She joked about invoking pan. Not thirty seconds later, I received my license plate with what three letters….PAN. The insane humor of this dissolved much of my anxiety of there being “a curse.” I think Jasun was right on when he mentioned this ritual being a vehicle through which all our needs were funneled—the vacuum noise having extra significance, now. Was the ritual necessary, was all the chaos that was unleashed, in the end, necessary? Maybe? It’s interesting to me that it was utterly spontaneous—that in itself seems to defy the idea of a ritual.

I think anyone raised Christian on a sincere search for truth is inevitably drawn to the occult. Another trap is to come out the other end a born-again (or atheist for that matter), as happens all too often. It’s hard to say what I believe now; I think that’s why I’m drawn to liminalism. I appreciated Jasun’s acknowledgement that there is weight to these experiences, that they “matter.”

As I said, all my gods came down with the temples. How could I have any faith after pulling people out of the temples in which they were praying? It was a frightening chaos, PANic. But it was the only way I was going to come back to the self. In the months following, I picked up a job doing demolition and renovation, again crawling through rubble and debris. I forgot to mention this was all during my Saturn’s return.

From my cache of Jung quotes:

“But the right way is that we accept emptiness, destroy the image of the form within us, negate the God, and descend into the abyss and awfulness of matter.”

      Malkuth it is.

Ah.Fitting I cited the planets then. Pan-Satan was already on His “merry” way to you long before the ritual was conceived. True spontaneity = no decision involved…

  3. Yeah fair enough i might not have quite grokked the context of what you said . Absolutely i agree that occultism is a system of representing to oneself various natural forces , and i also agree it is posible to therefore mistake these maps for the terrain that they represent and become obsessed by them .
As a general rule , i use these symbols to link certain recurring , seasonal events in nature to various ancient myths such as Pan and how i myself am feeling . This led me to a more in depth study of the myths themselves in Thomas BullFinch . In the northern hemisphere , its a powerful thing to be able to link myths of the stars ( representing the psyche) to a myth of the earth ( the body) . Downunder , this doesnt quite work as we uncortunately executed all the people who had devised a similar scheme over many tens of thousands of years .
The myth of christmas tends to fall a little flat when its 48 degrees celsius and theres a dust storm tearing up the joint . I have noticed the Aussies replicating these old pagan/religious occasions in the form of all souls ( returned servicemens day) and easter ( spring horse racing carnival ) , so there must be something quite powerfully archetypal in them that inspires collective ritual .
Of course occultism is only one way of many to help become whole , put some meaning into the torrent of raw sensory data that is the world and be a little happy with good relationships . If all you have is occultism and LSD you are doimg something wrong .
If you find yourself wearing long flowing robes telling a group of chimps to hand over their money and then bend over so you can have sex with them before the alien spacecraft arrives to pick us all up then similarly , i think you are doing something wrong .
    Cheers

  4. Top 30,000 , its really catching on !
Hold the phones , i am reading Girards ” violence and the sacred “, just under half way and he is talking about what i am banging on about here .
Fascinating stuff , drilling down to the nuts and bolts of why the hominids insist on reenacting these various myths . I hope he’s not another french deconstructionist who is aiming to tear down the old gods only to replace them with …..nothing . I suspect i will know by the time i reach the end
Youve got me on a steep learning curve here , Jasun . Thanks

  5. Hey great stuff. Great conversation. It seems Jasun you are denying an ‘out there’, and shoving everything into the ‘unconscious’ in there, which seems like another trap. It’s both/and. We are everything (psyche is the world said Jung) and we are isolated singularities. Everything is true. That ritual did possibly bring on the misfortunes- in doing it he possibly chose/created a certain path from an infinite number of paths. Everything is infinite all the time, but we are also stuck with this one channel as well, which is obviously our main concern- relationships, physical health, real estate. ; ) Deception/reality. Of course I have no idea what I am talking about, just a lifetime of thinking/feeling.

On another note- since we have been fed so much bullshit from Castenada to Urantia to a Course In Miracles- (all of it containing an aspect of truth/reality) (Of course Jung and Freud included in that list of bullshit) has anyone uncovered anything about Seth? I don’t see any intelligence connections there, besides the fact that it was channeled and didn’t let us in on any political truths, just “spiritual” ones. Like Cayce, etc etc.

      • well everything and nothing. everything is outside of your consciousness that’s what makes you unique. That’s why we need to see and feel and think and have a human life. So maybe he did call on a disincarnate entity. Maybe there are demons and a cosmic evil. And since everything is everywhere, nothing is outside of a human consciousness and such is proved by imagination. The unconscious links to everything, as does the material world- nothing is separate, except that everything is separated. So it’s both at once. So to say everything is in our unconscious is one half of a cop out and one half true. IMHO

Have you ever read the Seth books?

        Reply
        • Nope. I have stayed away from channeled works, not counting Ken Carey very early on.

If the psyche is the totality and perception is a continuum. I don’t see the need for the duality in this; sure “Pan” exists (tho cosmic evil is a stretch), as much as Jasun does. But Pan = the all, so everything exists in that. I think we get attached to names and symbols and forms and that attachment gives them some sort of continuity of existence.

          Reply
          • Right…but isn’t your use of the term ‘unconscious’ the same thing? The tao that can be spoken is not the tao. And to claim there is not duality sort of ends every conversation- it’s like saying ultimately nothing matters, it’s all one. Maybe it is, but it’s not the point somehow. I have been in that space and it’s beautiful. And also a sign of madness.

Anyway the Seth books are really cool (to a point) and quite original, but so were the Castenada books, except I can’t find a shred of intel or secret society connect with Jane Roberts. Except as I say they were seemingly apolitical, like Cayce. And not intel like Crowley. But it’s the same with ayahuasca. Pre-intel but has an alien connection. sigh. Anyway, loving all this stuff you are doing. My final yardstick is health. Is it healthy? Which gets back into the body…but then there is societal health, which is where everything gets even trickier.

  6. note on Childhood’s End by Clarke : (spoilers)

the Overlords manage the hijacking of humanity’s last generation for the Overmind
.. and the Overlords don’t even know what the hell is going on –
If I recall, the kids end up going all zombie-mode for a bit until some star child event makes it all shiny
There is even one (old-school) human kicking around when it all goes down
It’s actually an interesting throwaway book ..

    • I remember it being more like the Overlord aliens were demon/bat shaped- looking very like the devil. But they made all the problems of the world vanish and no one had any free will. (hmm, new world order?) And it was like a grand event where they get announced to the world and make an appearance. Anyway- yeah very readable from the pedophile and alien obsessed secret society dude
