Superstition Psyops & the Trauma-State (Psychological Operatives in Hollywood # 6b)

The Threat of Autonomy

“The conflict between the will to deny horrible events and the will to proclaim them aloud is the central dialectic of psychological trauma. People who have survived atrocities often tell their stories in a highly emotional, contradictory, and fragmented manner that undermines their credibility and thereby serves the twin imperatives of truth-telling and secrecy. When the truth is finally recognized, survivors can begin their recovery. But far too often secrecy prevails, and the story of the traumatic event surfaces not as a verbal narrative but as a symptom.” ―Judith Lewis Herman, Trauma and Recovery

The primary quality that constitutes a threat to the maintenance of state power is autonomy.

Autonomy is the opposite of conformity, obedience and dependency. When it comes to perception management and behavior modification on a collective scale, the primary obstacle to total control is the fact that people aren’t all alike. Since there exists a spectrum of awareness, gullibility, susceptibility, and autonomy in any given target audience, the exact same methods can’t be applied to everyone on that spectrum. You can’t fool all the people, etc. Not everyone can be indoctrinated, educated, inspired, coerced, or terrorized in the same way to perceive the same things or behave in the same manner.

I deduce from this that one logical way around such a problem is to attempt gradual schismogenesis: to drive people towards whichever end of a spectrum they are closer to, whether towards belief and willing subjugation to the State (including the belief that it is flawed and corrupt and only needs reconfiguring) or towards disbelief and unwilling subjugation. On the one hand, this creates a divide between potential allies (equally oppressed and disempowered subjects); on the other, it creates an increasingly extreme, exaggerated, and nuance-free reading of the situation at both ends of the spectrum.

To this end, I once wrote, “There is a worldwide conspiracy [i.e., agenda] to create the illusion of a worldwide conspiracy.” Yet the opposite may also be true: there is a worldwide conspiracy, or agenda, to discredit the idea of a worldwide conspiracy. All bases are thereby covered.

Since we are talking of a spectrum, albeit one that is always being driven towards polarity, there remains variation within it. Not everyone who rejects a belief in a worldwide conspiracy thinks that the system is salvageable (there are anarchists and Marxists who do not think conspiratorially yet who see our present political, social and economic system as inherently destructive, even “evil”).  Many people, for example, believe the government is run by incompetents and that the reason for the self-destructive nature of society is a combination of greed, irresponsibility, and stupidity, rather than any conscious design or malevolence. Or that racism, sexism, intolerance, and inequality are at the root of all social ills, even while, at the other end, it is Jews, Masons, Satanists, or Reptiles who are to blame.

The main thing in such social and psychological schismogenesis is that people believe whatever they believe not from conscious choice but as a result of having had their perceptions managed, i.e., as responses to the advertising. It doesn’t matter if they buy Pepsi or Coke, as long as they keep imbibing the sugar. As long as the narratives they subscribe to—globalism, nationalism, Marxism, neoliberalism, alt-right-ism, racial realism, ethno-nationalism, postmodernism, nihilism, theism, occultism, conspiratorialism—are manufactured as vehicles to capture their attention, direct their choices, and modify their behaviors down pre-prepared State channels, people will continue to sink deeper into dependency, away from autonomy or self-awareness.

This may be why those who gravitate towards a more conspiratorial perspective—one that corresponds more closely with the historical truth of long-term social engineering and a history of psyop—tend to wind up stranded on Planet Illuminati, where the movie playing depicts an all-powerful, all-controlling Satanic elite of possibly superhuman dimensions. If people are going to start wising up, it’s expedient (for the perception managers) that the “red pill” leads them deeper into fear and loathing, dissociation, narcissism and obsession, and not towards embodiment, acceptance, wisdom, peace, understanding, or love.

The Power of Superstition

“The psychological distress symptoms of traumatized people simultaneously call attention to the existence of an unspeakable secret and deflect attention from it. This is most apparent in the way traumatized people alternate between feeling numb and reliving the event. The dialectic of trauma gives rise to complicated, sometimes uncanny alterations of consciousness, which George Orwell . . . called ‘doublethink,’ and which mental health professionals, searching for calm, precise language, call ‘dissociation.’” ―Judith Lewis Herman, Trauma and Recovery

During the Vietnam War, the Joint United States Public Affairs Office (JUSPAO) regularly sent out PSYOP Policy to be used by the troops in the field. Policy Number 36, dated 10 May 1967, describes guidance to be followed by all U.S. elements in Vietnam, beginning with the title “THE USE OF SUPERSTITIONS IN PSYCHOLOGICAL OPERATIONS IN VIETNAM.”  It poses a two-part problem, “To devise guidelines for the exploitation of enemy vulnerabilities provided by superstitions and deeply-held traditional beliefs”; and “To be aware of and accommodate those superstitions of friendly forces and populations that may have a bearing on military operations.”

A strong superstition or a deeply-held belief shared by a substantial number of the enemy target audience,” it continues (emphasis added), “can be used as a psychological weapon because it permits with some degree of probability the prediction of individual or group behavior under a given set of conditions.”

The manual cautions that using enemy superstition as a starting point for psychological operations requires that “one must be sure of the conditions and control the stimuli that trigger the desired behavior. The first step in the manipulation of a superstition as an enemy vulnerability is its exact identification and detailed definition of its spread and intensity among the target audience” (emphasis added). This exploitation of enemy superstition requires ascertaining that “The superstition or belief is real and powerful” and that manipulating it is not only possible, but that it will “achieve results favorable to the friendly forces.”

According to retired “Superstition Psyop” Sergeant Major, Herbert A. Friedman, one of the prime American proponents of Superstition was General Edward Lansdale, for whom successful psychological warfare depended on “a firm understanding of the socio-cultural beliefs and myths of the target.” Lansdale served as the CIA’s chief operative in the Philippines during the early 1950s counterinsurgency campaign against the country’s Huk rebels.[1]

In the most famous operation, which may or may not be true, it is alleged that [Landsdale] was told of an area known to be harboring Hukbalahap guerrillas. A combat psychological warfare squad was brought in and, under Lansdale’s direction, planted stories among town residents of an asuang or vampire living on the hill where the Huks were based. A famous local soothsayer, they said, had predicted that men with evil in their hearts would become its victim. After letting the story sink in, Lansdale’s ambushers waited for a Huk patrol to pass along the trail, quietly snatched the last insurgent, punctured his neck with two holes, hung the body by the ankles to drain it of blood, then put the corpse back on the trail. When the guerrillas returned to look for their missing comrade they found the bloodless corpse, obviously killed by an Asuang (vampire). The entire Huk unit packed up and left the area in great haste.

As if to indicate the centrality of pop culture to psyop, Friedman inserts the poster for the 1973 Philippine movie, Son of the Vampire:

Friedman provides a similar example in the exploiting of the North Vietnamese fear that, if they died far from home, and their bodies were denied a proper burial, they would become “wandering souls” after death.

The operation was code-named “Wandering Soul.” Engineers spent weeks recording eerie sounds . . . similar to the sounds employed during a scary radio show or movie . . . designed to send shivers down the back. These cries and wails were intended to represent souls of the enemy dead who had failed to find the peace of a proper burial. . . .  The purpose of these sounds was to panic and disrupt the enemy and cause him to flee his position. Helicopters were used to broadcast Vietnamese voices pretending to be from beyond the grave. They called on their descendants in the Vietcong to defect, to cease fighting.

Such examples make it clear why pop culture in general, and Hollywood specifically, might be central to the art and science of psyop. If we consider the implications of a domestic appliance of exploiting popular superstitions to manipulate perceptions and behavior; if we juxtapose this with cultural meme machines like Brock’s PAC’s, seemingly fringe players like the Discordian Society, Timothy Leary, Whitley Strieber, Simon’s The Necronomicon, or with specific memes such as “alien abduction,” “Illuminati,” “RussiaGate,” and Satanic Ritual Abuse; and if we recall that psyop is geared towards analyzing “factors that affect and influence the behavior of an adversary . . . to nominate targets in order to change the behavior . . . to facilitate military operations, and to support and communicate national objectives”—then it is easy to imagine the potential of such areas of collective fascination to function as psyop.

Selling the Alien

So-called Satanic Ritual Abuse seems designed to enflame the already combustive, superstitious, fear-based imagination of the masses—specifically Christians but also people “waking up” to political realities—and lure them into a new level of nightmare (so-called “mass hysteria,” “psychic contagion,” or “moral panic”).

One potentially desirable effect of such a psyop would be to manage the target audience’s perceptions towards seeing the State as both diabolic and Godlike. It also seems to function as a highly effective tool of schismogenesis, which can be seen by how opinion on these accounts is so strongly divided, between those who accept the reality of them (sometimes unquestioningly) and those who dismiss them as the result of religious hysteria and the exploitation of hordes of unethical psychotherapists. On both ends of the spectrum, ironically, a massive conspiracy is imagined.

Once again, the truth seems to be found in a less literal-minded or simplistic twilight zone between extremes. Real abominations are certainly being committed, even while the more lurid, fantastic, overly “Satanic” (even supernatural) aspects of these scenarios are being pushed forward: as a means to sensationalize them, on the one hand, and discredit them, on the other. Yet these elements may not be strictly essential or integral to the acts being committed, any more than an abduction experience depends on the existence of aliens. Or if these elements are integral to a given experience, then they are like “special effects” that make a movie that much more persuasive, as in the case of Lansdale’s soldier-vampires.

Was Lansdale’s psyop reality or movie? Real people were killed as part of a real military strategy, and a fake supernatural element was incorporated to spread shock and awe and superstitious dread. The soldiers who committed the acts of violence were not required to believe they were vampires, however, or even to believe in vampires at all, any more than General Lansdale needed to believe in the supernatural to plan the psyop. But those soldiers did need to embody that superstitious belief and make it real. And since the killing was real, and the blood-draining was real, mightn’t they find themselves, like method actors, increasingly unsure at what point the movie ends and reality begins?

The “occultic” aspect of accounts of organized ritual abuse, or of the various serial killings of recent history, may of course be absolutely real. Forces of the occult may also be real. But whatever the case, and whatever those involved actually believe, they certainly appear to be essential to the managing of the perceptions—first of the victims and then the larger public that hears these accounts—as a means of adding an extra dimension of psychological terror to the purely physical horror, while at the same time, paradoxically, introducing an element of the fantastic.

This latter consequence—that of making the accounts so horrible that they seem ridiculous—is for a different target audience, one existing at the other end of the cognitive spectrum, the Sam Harris-Richard Dawkins end (though Jordan Peterson, tellingly, is equally dismissive of organized ritual abuse) that is contemptuous of religious and superstitious belief. For this demographic, the supernatural element, rather than making the accounts more terrifying, increases the apparent absurdity of them.

To a degree, this schismogenesis occurs in the perception, and hence the behaviors, of the percipients themselves. Seeing, or remembering, we both believe and disbelieve our perceptions. And not knowing which of our responses to believe, we are paralyzed to act. Like traumatized children, we are rendered powerless in the face of something so vast that it is seemingly incomprehensible to us.

Our trauma becomes our God, and our traumatized state becomes our traumatizer-State.

  1. Enjoyed this read. Thank you Jasun. Much of it rings true to me. If for some illusive reason one wants a population to behave in a traumatized fashion, one merely needs to traumatize them.

  2. In a poem written by Delamer Duverus titled, “Ode to the Satanist” his first point is that those like Anton LeVay were set up to portray satanists when in reality the real satanists were those who sat in boardrooms and other policy making institutions and who used their minds like “cubicals”, which is to say Mind cubes, or Synedrions, as defined in “The Golden Reed” as a gathering of minds dedicated to a conspiracy for control of Humanity, and mastery of the World through economic manipulation. Otherwise known as “The Legion of the Damned.”

The only way out of this for us, because the confusion you have described we understood many years ago and was the reason we asked for understanding in the first place, has been a relationship with Delamer Duverus, whose vantage point is so much higher than ours and knows what the synedrion is doing and can help us navigate the crap they throw at us.

My only lament is that He picked us to write for Him, when men like yourself have a much better command of the language and a superior writing skill. Good article, no solution given, however.

Jim Kunstler has this position, it seems, nested inside of Strauss-Howe’s generational theory.

  4. Dear Jasun and also Jennifer Milner,
That Hershfeld piece about Duverus was fascinating. So strange how such an oddball, loose-end can end up having an effect on an entire skein of parapolitical thought (since The Golden Reed is cited in “Behold A Pale Horse.” In this regard, it’s also worth looking up a guy I once knew here in Portland, Ace R. Hayes, who used to conduct ‘Secret Government Seminars’- filling a fairly large auditorium once a month to expound a peculiarly American brand of left- libertarian conspiracy discussion with a lot of audience paticipation. This all in the days before 9-11. Before even the ‘Battle in Seattle’. The crowd was an extremely heterogeneous bunch, the main bonding point being anti-authoritarianism. You can still find a bunch of them on Youtube, as they were filmed for local public access cable. (Is that still thing?)

  5. Lazycat – Hirshfeld came to the Duverus family before I did, and like many others he called Bab, our mentor who wrote for Delamer Duverus, anti-semitic, as does wiki, but he wasn’t, he was just anti-Zionist along with many other patriots we knew about back then. He had many Hebrew friends and studied with one who was a Bible scholar who was mentioned in his book, “The Next Voice You Hear” which might still be on educate-yourself website.

There are still these patriot groups and one is now playing and which is about the conspiracy a la Ralph Epperson, “The Unseen Hand”, and where much is attributed to a demonic group whom the powers that be use to gain control. We just call it the Alien Mind, because it should be alien to us, but we often accept it as our own Speciel Mind. It is an insane mind. Revelation Dawn of Global Government. William Cooper knew about the Alien Mind first hand from his experiences in the Navy. He was murdered as was our mentor for exposing them.

We used public access many years ago, early 80’s, but the station censored several of our presentations, cut the sound. No explanation and they wouldn’t run them again. Haven’t heard of public access, but then don’t watch TV.

  6. Funny—when I opened up your post, I’d just finished reading the following passage in “Fahrenheit 451”:

“We must all be alike. Not everyone born free and equal, as the Constitution says, but everyone made equal. Each man the image of every other; then all are happy, for there are no mountains to make them cower, to judge themselves against” (p. 58)

Compare to your point: “the primary obstacle to total control is the fact that people aren’t all alike.”

Not sure how it bears on “schismogenesis”, but it strikes me that at the present time **debt**, banal as it is, is one of the most rapidly snowballing methods of social control and homogenization. Without requiring any explicit “conspiracy”, I suspect widespread personal debt has been highly (oft recklessly) encouraged in recent times not merely because it makes money for the well-placed, but also on grounds that borrowing is “prosocial”—in other words, because the borrower loses their autonomy, being thralled to the service of the debt, hence to the lender, hence to the goals of the overall Leviathan.

To borrow, and as wildly as possible, is to show one’s faith, literally to “buy in” to the running economic mythology. This is sort of like one of those “fall backwards and let me catch you” team exercises, but with no one there who actually catches, only a waiting heap of confused, disconnected others who previously “fell” for the same trick.

And all of this dependency, of course, is sold thru slogans like “follow your dreams”, “become who you are”, etc., etc. The riddle is that this individualistic pursuit nourishes a formidable homogenization: all debts are in dollars, and all dollars are by definition alike. The debts are repackaged and redistributed like an undifferentiated, bulk substance, and along with them the digested dreams of the hapless individual. E pluribus unum!

As for Cassville MO….well, drive an hour in any direction…the original home base of the Minutemen paramilitaries, Gerald LK Smith’s big Jesus statue, pervy old Billy James Hargis and his operations, Tim McVeigh’s old Elohim City stomping grounds, the WN stronghold that is NW Arkansas…Cassville is like literally right in the middle of the map of all the above. Nothing to see here, its just good ole red blooded “anti-zionism” is all.

the thing about “channeled messages from the space brothers,” going all the way back: they always have strong opinions about topics that can be called “eugenic” don’t they, like skin color for instance. Also the spacemen seem always to have had super duper strong feelings about the Jews for some weird reason.

    • kdennis, you can believe what you want; we prefer to know or admit that we don’t know and seek the answers to our questions based on reason. Yes, there was a lot of “sh*t” in that area, especially NW Arkansas where Delamer Duverus exposed a 50+ man drug cartel/satanic coven composed of prominent professional men, but The American Sunbeam did its best to print all sides to an issue fairly and without deceit and it was not anti-semitic or racist, though Roberts did understand the 12 races, that some were positive and some negative, some active and some dormant. He was free of fear, hate, shame, greed, lust, guilt and prejudice.

Don’t know much about the “space brothers” to whom you refer, but the ones we know are our ancestors in that they put us on this penal colony to mature as a species, and if we do mature and learn to live in peace with each other, then we might just evolve to their estate and work with them to serve our function as was the original intent, to Keep and Dress our habitat.

There are Jews and then there are those who call themselves Jews, but who lie and worship in the synagogue of Satan.

And then there are “rats”. Couldn’t imagine why we went to bed thinking of rats in the rafters and all around us, and woke up with the same thoughts. Now we know.

    • The Jews are a weird bunch; they are simultaneously arch-conspirators and possessors of a profound – allegorically encoded – understanding of the human condition (ala Torah).

I’ve spent a lot of time with this religion – from orthodox and other positions, and I’ve come to Judaism as more or less containing the ancient beliefs not of any ethnic group called “Jews”, or even an ethnic group called “Hebrews”. Rather, the very word “Jew”, “YeHuD” in Hebrew, means “he who acknowledges”; and Hebrew, or “IVRiM”, means “he who has crossed”. Clearly this body of knowledge had nothing to do with race or ethnicity, but with ideology.

Most of it seems good. The inner-knowledge is profoundly compatible with modern understanding of human development. For instance, Genesis 2-3 literally describes what I consider to be a profound metaphysical ontology for human beings, with ‘shame’ – allegorically represented as nakedness – as the primary metaphor. Yet, dumb gnostics and/or literalists take nakedness as a literal idea, when nakedness has everything to do with the concept of vulnerability, and being ‘known’. If I can acknowledge my errors, and you can be generous, patient, and accepting of the fact that humans are inherently error-prone, than I will feel rewarded for being truthful – no? Hence, feedback controls behavior. In the ancient world and todays world, most people were not generous – but egotistical. The ego prevents the mental-acrobatics required to make sense of a negative feeling, understand its origin/etiology, and then drop it. It is the implicit and inferable presence of shame which causes us to identify with a stubborn position that is not truthful, but which identify with nonetheless because we can’t bear letting the other feel an advantage over us.

Ultimately, I write this only to deepen awareness of what the Jewish people are. Are Zionists all the same? No. Ultra-Orthodox are deeply Zionist and even in a “nice” sort of way – that is, they don’t identify with being “evil”.

On the other hand, Natanyahu, for instance, strikes me as a nihilist-Jew who pretends to be religious. This nationalistic Zionism which makes an idol of the identity/ethnicity of Jewishness is gross and disgusting, just like the Palestinian/Hamas/PLA is a basic carbon-copy of the Jewish one.

Governments worldwide are composed of people who indulge in this hero-worship primitive belief system – ala Nietzsche, Hegel, Freud, etc. Zionism is no more special than any other romantic (gnostic) movement that places fun/adventure over human wellbeing.

Sabbateanism/Frankism has also no doubt played a role in spreading secular Jews with gnostic belief systems, but then again Christianity, Islam and every religion has the same sort of dynamic. Some of them, in fact, seem very compatible with gnostic themes (Christianity, or Islam), and yet its probably safer to say that antinomian/holistic views can be found in the same religious traditions, probably with a different audience in mind.

In any case, I’m always worried that people will jump to the opposite extreme and deny the holocaust or understate its significance. The Nazis WERE – just like all antinomians are – disgusted by Judaism and its relational morality. They went after anyone who was ethically coherent – democrats, socialists, freemasons, Christians, etc. They were clearly more preoccupied with moral-difference than with ethnic background. Indeed, class-consciousness/morality may be so integrated that elites from whatever culture have more in common than they do with non-elites from their own; indeed, their interests/behaviors/needs are completely aligned; so why wouldn’t elites emphasize ethnicity: wouldn’t that be a useful device to dissociate people from the real facts?

The person being interviewed here, Mistlberger, would make such an excellent podcast guest for you, Jasun, for a number of reasons, not least of which he has a good deal of experience with questions about “enlightenment” which you took on in the past. I cannot find the timestamp but somewhere in this excellent discussion about mature masculinity he basically says that people obsessing overmuch about conspiracy theories are expressing their “daddy issues,” their fear of the “Zeus Power,” out loud. (I may be mistaken on the video, it might have been from another one. His work and insights though are highly recommended to you, Jasun. Check his bio and his books!)

Which reminds one of the C.S. Lewis quote from earlier in the series:

“There are two equal and opposite errors into which our race can fall about the devils. One is to disbelieve in their existence. The other is to believe, and to feel an excessive and un-healthy interest in them. They themselves are equally pleased by both errors and hail a materialist or a magician with the same delight.”

To this one could add: “beware of anyone pushing you to either extreme.”

…The quote is also useful in parsing what one might pejoratively call “conspiritardation” (and as a recovering conspiritard, I have no reservations about the pejorative language). Of course there is a good deal of smoke-filled backroom secret society stuff going on behind each and every scene you’d care to name, as far back and as far forward as you look. It would be silly if not dangerously naive not to at least acknowledge this. But what does it mean to go to the other extreme and take as one’s avocation speculating and obsessing about the same? It says, to me, more about the alleged “observer” than the thing being observed. Meanwhile, there are so very many flavors out there to choose from, the choice of conspiracy theory obsession is also a marker of sorts. The “totems” we take on in this regard (be they NWO, masons, UFOS and “disclosure culture,” “the jews,” flat earth, etc) can be seen as status markers/identifiers we put on, like masks made from red pill packaging.

Back to the supernatural overlay that gives conspiracy culture the necessary juice, here is a classic Bill Cooper lecture.

If like me you can make yourself watch/listen to this all the way through, you have my condolences. It is an artifact from another time. It is interesting to see what the man had to say at a time before the internet social media age. This was I believe supposed to be taped for CNN. They let him run with it, and run with it he did. But! Notice that after establishing his military/intel bonafides, he starts out with a digression (6:40) into the mythic, the paranormal, the supernatural: a long anecdote about a UFO experience on a submarine at sea. THAT is what sets the tone for everything that followed, and on gets the sense this was not his first time giving some variation of this talk. The end of the tale leads into a proto-disclosure type lament. It is from this jumping off point that the audience, having been set up with a supernatural sense of wonder and mystery tinged with coercive military secrecy and a theft of the promise of space age alien tech, that Mr. Cooper leads us deeper and deeper into his politics (one notable notion he brings up later is that “we are a republic not a democracy,” but can’t confirm the timestamp nor context).

At 15:30 he says he was given a “Q-clearance” for his internal security work for Naval Intelligence. But I digress.

Anyway, Cooper has been brought up in the comments on this series so its relevant. I happen to think that the paranoia-stoking American conspiracy culture, the conspiritainment industry is just about 100% psychological warfare for which the American mind is both the battlespace and the objective to be won. Cooper is certainly a founding father, so it is interesting to go back and give him a fresh look and see how the memes he seeded so well persist to this day. It looks as though a new book about his has just come out (linked above), and it looks terribly interesting.

UFO culture is inherently “schismogenic” to use your term. Engagement with the question forces a choice on the observer. Its a multiple choice question: actual ET? Secret govt program? Captured WWII tech? Demons (a la the “Collins Elite?”). Disclosure forever immanent? It makes you choose and no matter your choice you will wind up at odds with someone who makes a different choice. It is set up to make sub-ideologies, to make divisions. Again, the C.S. Lewis quote comes to mind. Pick a side: Disbelieve and dismiss, over-believe and obsess. Its all perilous, and the field of choice and the choices are all predetermined by someone else.

As for the “someone else,” the great Recluse brought to my attention what seems like a very important point about the UFO culture. Fun fact a lot of UFO publishing has been done by…Regnery publishing, a right-wing military industrial complex affiliated house:

  12. kdennis, apology accepted, but not needed. It just amuses us that people make judgments based on a few Internet articles without reading any of Roberts’ Delamer Duverus writings or knowing anything about him. Did you know he was murdered, sprayed with poison from a black, unmarked helicopter while he was out burning trash at his rural home?

Thanks for ramblings, know the UFO movement is controlled, saw how Billy Meier went missing for three day and his story of Pleiadians then controlled, and how Col. Wendell Stevens who came to work with Billy to understand also went missing for three days, learned from his daughter, and then he was under their control, whoever it is, probably CIA via mind control, given LSD and thoroughly dissimulated. Don’t know much about Cooper except he used DD quote in his book.

Would have to agree with Lewis about demons, Roberts was an empath and saw them on people and our leaders, but he was funny in that he would call the possessed human a clone, so as not to get involved with the destructive characterization. Met another empath who saw an entity on Obama and it just hung by his side until he was inaugurated and then it encircled his head. A remote viewer found on line was looking at George Bush Jr. when he was calling for war with Iraq in 2003, and the remote viewer saw an entity surrounding Bush’s head and speaking for him. Remember it because the remote viewer called it an Armageddon Entity.

Not everyone can be indoctrinated, educated, inspired, coerced, or terrorized in the same way to perceive the same things or behave in the same manner.”

I’m liking the themes of this thread. To discover trauma as a biopsychosocial control parameter on functionality is an important discovery, since chances are, the entire racket being run by “elites” at the very top of the system has everything to do with a codified system of understanding how humans respond to trauma, and how this can be manipulated i.e. ‘programming’.

Thinking and speaking for me is like an act of circumnavigation. It is always a dialectical performance – that is, my dialogue can only ‘move around’ the truth, and not capture it any one observation or comment. The entirety of the argument is the circle, whereas my act of description constitutes a moment in the overall attempt to represent what I take to be truth i.e. as would be recognized if you followed the logic of my argument to its end.

This is the problem language creates. Language seems linear – and it is, by itself. Yet reality is circularly and non-linear: cells, body, social relationships, and mind, are all fundamentally field-based, and so can only be coherently represented in terms of a complex system of factors which contribute to effects in amalgamated and coordinated ways.

Thus, you never talk only of socialism, but of capitalism as well; you never talk just about responsibility, but of liberty. Every value has its weaknesses to which its antonym can oftentimes represent a useful complement. This means the semantics of human reality are just as circular – field-like – as mind, body, etc, but that when we speak and relate in a traumatological setting (with trauma understood as the physiological embodiment of constraints which obstruct self-awareness,, by triggering hyper or hypo dissociations) we are in danger of becoming hyper-identified with one position, not realizing that we are being defensive (due to social dynamics) and becoming ‘idolators’ – or people who place a crappy value ahead of a more coherent and optimal value – given the way reality works (symmetry).

You seem to intuitively get this Jasun, and it seems to derive from your awareness of the significance of trauma. Schismogenesis is basically this process of being driven by social dynamics (creation of anxiety oftentimes via activating shame processes) into premature identifications with positions for the sake increasing the egos sense of coherency/power over its internal objects projected onto the social environment. In effect, this culture creates a society of solipsistic minds who with magniloquence (and ignorance) believe themselves to know the world in deep ways, yet in always abstracting early life and attachment from the process (and how that correlates with the ontology of the mind i.e. brainstem development regulates sensorimotor circles between self and objects, which then later on becomes seamlessly integrated with affect, language and self processes, without an inkling of how the self has been made to feel certain about its feelings about things. That is, original sin is very much the act of ignoring the construction of feelings from relationships, and the responsibility the self has to the moral and mental consequences that come from dismissing the significance of this omission) they more or less miss the fact that they feel secure in their way of being simply by confirming/affirming the narrative and “truth” they all live by. This process, in being a material process between physical bodies who are uttering the same narratives, conceals the unconscious and dissociated material which sets up and makes coherent the identificatory processes of the ego. In other words, the people who ‘live for the now’ are people who are holding back hell by the stubbornness created by their life-situation. The mental state is ‘bootstrapped’ by the social situation; the tax-collector goes to hell because he exaggerates his own power and needlessly complexifies (tendentiously) what is in itself very simple: the conscious self is created by recognition dynamics i.e. one self attuning to and modifying itself for the sake of another self. Healthy people aren’t aliened or antagonistically related to this fact, whereas people who embody asymmetry – trauma, as doers or done to – think of symmetry and experience it as dreadful; as horrible; as evil, as hell. They take their state to be a do-novo representation, rather than a reaction between reality-as-ideal (the world around you) and reality-as-actuated (your body). If your body is out of tune with reality, then change it. Yet, the fear, anxiety, and weakening of the self is too much for egotists to tolerate. They make a ridiculous bargain in thinking that they can think coherently or believe realistically (in an ontological way; i.e. Crowley for instance) after their behavior has gone awry, and their affects, because of the behavior, represent a disordered world.

Your description of Crowley – or Gnosticism more generally – as a virus, is very much the case. In my mind, left-hand path ideologies are the exact parallel of biological viruses. They function in exactly the same way; they have no means to perpetuate themselves without colonizing cells with ribosomes. Viruses are thus not real; they exist as a community outside the context of replication/parasitism, but individual viruses are dying one after the other as the only way they can produce proteins for their structure is by taking over cells and using the cells ribosomes to produce proteins for their structure. Analogously, these stupid belief systems ‘parasitize’ upon a mindbrain that is experiencing interpersonal conflict. Yet since we are languagers, the mental-virus has existed since the emergence of language, since language and social representation can veer from actual causal-processes as represented in feelings and social cognition. Our instinct is towards ‘relaxing stresses’ and hence, to benevolence. But with material evolution, the material culture has played a larger and larger role in creating stronger attachments between individuals, around physical materials, sex, and social esteem, creating the conditions for secret societies and secret relationships related to secret knowledge.

      • How can language be a virus if language is fundamental to human self-organization? Imagine becoming the mind you are today without language. Impossible. Were the “symbolic species”, as Terrence Deacon puts it. Attempting to conceive ourselves as “pure” without language is as meaningful as seeing T.V. as pure without electricity: T.V no more exists without electricity as a human mind exists without language.

Language definitely creates problems when people don’t know how to use it. Ian Mcghilchrist wrote a whole book (The master and his emissary) describing what the neuroscientific imaging and anatomical research shows: the right brain frames an interaction, and the left brain represents it in language for external communication.

Without language, external relations with others cant be coherently organized. Gnosticism – not gnosis (as a state), but the dualistic, reified, and essentialist doctrine that goes by names like hermeticism, Gnosticism, alchemy, etc – is basically a traumatogenic construction built over evolutionary time that “freezes” states of self-experience into articles and elements of a philosophy. Thus, being “beyond good and evil” – or beyond moral concerns – is about ‘knowing the pure state’ – or gnosis. Problem is, this so-called “pure state” is really just a traumatized/entropic system momentarily gaining coherence and clarity by recognizing the perfect symmetry of its origins. Ok – so is that it? No. The gnostic doesn’t engage in repair – but instead ignorantly imagines that created and expressed reality, or the external world which encompasses and engineers us, doesn’t need to be fixed. Paradoxically enough, despite gnosis meaning knowledge, it is a darth of relational knowledge – or knowledge of how events and objects interact in reality – which makes the gnostic so dangerous: being fanatically certain of ‘knowing’ how reality works (i.e. from the so-called godhead), they fail to recognize that their state of self-experience is an effect of the way their life-history has been canalized by relational experiences i.e. by how their caregivers evaluated the world, and how their evaluations were functions of how they themselves were treated.

The issue ultimately boils down to selfishness. Gnostics are selfish and will inevitably suffer for the lack of love/care/regard they show the other. Since human reality is not the ‘superordinance’ of the I over the We, but the exact reverse, a person can never express the TRUE “I” without first fixing their behavior such that they are concerned with the “I” – or self experience – of all other humans (and living beings more generally). In short, trauma becomes embodied as your feeling reflexes. Since feelings are ecological short-hands for expectancies between the self+object, if you take your feelings as anything more than relational properties that need to be reflectively understood and regulated – something magic, mysticism, and primitive mythological systems don’t acknowledge – than you’re basically insane. This is truly what the “tower of babble” allegory is about: the building of a philosophy on a foundation based in interpersonal trauma and retarded idealization. What is climate change but the coming to moral fruition of the west’s love affair with trauma/stupidity? The “hero” mythos needs to be retired or profoundly reworked in a moralistic universe, because the idea that individuals are beyond consequences is no more ontologically true than it is biodynamically true: nature IS the ontology of reality; ergo, to operate as a lone-wolf, and develop an affective base (a ground) that experiences itself as truly independent, is a delusion created by a semiotic circle that once had you – the egotist (anyone that is an egotist) on the victim side of the ledger. The hero myth is thus the dissociation of the victim-position and a hyper identification with the aggressor/persecutor position i.e. the whole Prometheus, Hercules, etc, where reality is conceived in completely egocentric ways. Such egocentricity is a virus; it is a delusion; it is polarized – literally – with the allocentric pole of its field-self being excluded from representation, and hence, hell is a very plausible after-life prospect given the utter complexity of the way objects like us work.

        • The mind may not exist without language, but a person can exist without mind. Therefore, to proceed with the analogy, our affliction is that of ‘mindedness’, our consciousness driven from full bodily identification. Our dependence on language, knowledge, concepts and symbolic representation is a corollary of that.

        • The human world is language and we are co-creators of the world with deity – in the beginning was the word on its slow road to symbiosis. Viruses may have aided human evolution by playing positive and negative roles in the activity of humans. And up to 46 per cent of our DNA seems to have been provided at some time in the past by invading viruses, apparently. I don’t think all gnostics can be tarred with your brush. The Hermetic Corpus teaches that humanity is the brother of God – this is life-affirming and not selfish. It is nature oriented and celebratory.

          • No offence, but when I first came across the word ‘auticulture’, I thought it referred to something you could expect to find in a petri dish.

  15. “The main thing in such social and psychological schismogenesis is that people believe whatever they believe not from conscious choice but as a result of having had their perceptions managed, i.e., as responses to the advertising. It doesn’t matter if they buy Pepsi or Coke, as long as they keep imbibing the sugar. As long as the narratives they subscribe to—globalism, nationalism, Marxism, neoliberalism, alt-right-ism, racial realism, ethno-nationalism, postmodernism, nihilism, theism, occultism, conspiratorialism—are manufactured as vehicles to capture their attention, direct their choices, and modify their behaviors down pre-prepared State channels, people will continue to sink deeper into dependency, away from autonomy or self-awareness.”

Brilliant analysis. Point-counterpoint. Sugar-in-body makes an anxious and rambunctious mind; and if you fill the social environment with objects that titillate normal motivational processes now supercharged by sugar, you’ve created a little loop. Sugar/Object cover both bases, or sides, of the manipulation process.

How can you think if you need a semiotic context that values thinking? Sugar and objects-that-entice probabilistically prevent human minds from going-outwards and accepting what they have been physiologically conditioned to doubt. The methods are so normal – basic, and yet were surrounded by sensationalism. That may be the ultimate aim: to discredit conspiracy theorists by seeding their relations-to-conspiracy with exaggerated and paranoid constructions. Conspiracy may be fully real, and even involve a mystic-element. Yet the way people think about it, or understand it, is sensational. Is this by design, or a function of dilettantism? Could it be both?

great summation/rephrasing of the first thesis of this series:

“That may be the ultimate aim: to discredit conspiracy theorists by seeding their relations-to-conspiracy with exaggerated and paranoid constructions. Conspiracy may be fully real, and even involve a mystic-element. Yet the way people think about it, or understand it, is sensational.”

Of course, “sensational in this sense is the opposite of the right way to think about the material – in a body-centric, sensation-based way…. Funny how that flip-over happened…

  17. Hi Jasun & commenters,
Your blogs on manipulations by the powerful have certainly given me a lot to think about! I worked for some years for a small chain retailer that was eventually bought out by a large-chain retailer. The difference in working environment was shocking, and also educational. For example, they used the tools of QI, Quality Improvement, to cynically create a workplace atmosphere of terror. There were good people working there who found that they had to do bad things to keep working, even to avoid having their reputations ruined. Before getting bought out, I would not have believed any manipulations of these sorts were possible, but now I do see them, and they seem to be everywhere.

Changing subjects– James Kunstler has a friend, also a blogger, named John Michael Greer. He is a practicing mage, and is aware of the dark magic done by the likes of Alistair Crowley, but very much against them. I think you would very much enjoy discussing with him the nature and extent of dark magical workings by powerful people in our society.

  18. I’ve been working on a theory about trauma and it’s relationship to pacifying consumption.
It started when i began thinking about how in the last 15 years there has been a trend in turning airports into confined shopping malls. There is very little difference between the american suburban mall and modern airports. Both have a wide range of retail stores, food courts and bars for alcohol libations. In modern suburbs the mall has become the sole universal civic center and the airport by default of its captive situation has now modeled itself after it.
This rise in large scale consumption seems to have come about primarily in the years post 9/11.As a kid i remember airports having fairly limited purchase options such as a book store, lounge and small bites cafe which were themselves limited to small amount of space with the rest dedicated to neutral waiting areas designed to provide a comfortable place to rest while waiting for flights or to meet incoming passengers. Now from the post security screening area to the boarding ramps themselves the entire concourse each is one consecutive store after the other providing a large variety of diversions and purchasing options. All types of foods are covered as well as some very strange shopping in context such as victorias secret and harley davidsons.
Except for sheer boredom i have often wondered where the impulse to consume at that level was being derived from.
Thinking about the timing of these changes being in last two decades i came to the theory that it was directly related to 9/11 and the signifier of airports conscious or not to that collective trauma .This mental relation is further compounded by the invasive/semi traumatic experience of going through security screenings before flying. The security standardization registers the collective trauma of 9/11 and then the process in all its gestapo like glory of being forced into a line, scrutinized over identity and then physically inspected is a traumatizing act itself not to mention the collective memory of authoritarian actions in the past that it resembles.
After the dehumanizing hazing process which is now passively considered normal the person flying is consoled by a plethora of salvatory options to numb the experience of being treated like a criminal.

I wonder if there was nothing to distract people from this experience if this security process would still exist in its current form.

This relationship of trauma to dissociative anaesthetize through consumption is a theory worth mining but could be quite a large one to tackle so i just thought i would leave a few other examples that are worth considering.

Directly after the attacks of 9/11,G W bush told the american people to go shopping.
The two main holidays that for many are stressful because of unresolved family issues revolve around consuming large amounts of food/drink or material objects(gifts).
The yearly birthday in a society that some consider having trauma based birth(modern hospital birth/circumcision).
Receiving money from the tooth ferry when children loose their teeth(initial awareness of the body’s impermanence.
Children being giving gifts or money by perpetrators of molestation.
The rise in obesity concurrent to depression.

Trauma seems to play multiple roles in society as well as being a tool for control.
Just as war is a economic resource via the MIC, which may be its primary role or at least a hugely significant byproduct so too are there possible byproducts of trauma that are sublimated in ways that have become integral to society.
